{ vintage flea market }

Last weekend my friend Ashley and I went to a local vintage flea market .  let's just say it was heaven.  no two items were the same, everything was so full of character and creativity and  I obsessed over every.little.thing.  While tempted, I didn't go too crazy on purchasing things.  Here's a few things I found:

This table also has a matching one that's in our room.  This was my favorite flea market find, sanded and refinished by a friend of mine who had a booth at the flea market.  Check out her cute booth [most of her stuff had sold by the time I got there] !

So, the only thing I got was the candle holder on the right.  When I saw it I knew it would be perfect here, [in our dining room] next to the chalkboard frame I recently sprayed and finished.  It matches the candle holder which I've transformed into a chalk holder.

I haven't hung this yet, but I have the perfect spot, right in my entryway where this coat rack will hang.  I added those two extra crystal hardware knobs I had on hand and made it personal with filling in the chalk area with labels for my hubby, me and a guest :]

I found this cute little owl that was super cheap and the perfect addition to my bookshelf [if I can decide which bookshelf to put it on...]

Overall the flea market was full of fabulous finds and creative deals . I wish there was one every weekend !

{ san diego part 1 }

Last weekend we went to San Diego to visit my best friend down there, her husband, and their brand new baby girl Ruth (how darling is her name!?).  We had so much fun seeing all our friends down there and spending time with all of them.  Here's a few pics from our trip in collages.  [ more to come...]

how darling is she?!  she looks just like her mama .  I couldn't kiss those cheeks enough ! :]

they have the best farmer's market down there - we couldn't believe we hadn't discovered it while we were in school there.  Fresh flowers, samples galore, fresh coconut juice, handmade jewelry & more .

ruth's adorable nursery

  It was the perfect weekend.  except that it wasn't long enough.  We were sad to leave our friends but so thankful to have the time with them!

{ fall neutrals }

Fall is almost here.  I can smell it in the morning air, and see it in the early darkness each evening!  I can't wait for the cozy weather.  Similar to spring though, it's sort of a weird time to transition from summer to fall.  Do you wear short sleeves and freeze, or long sleeves and die of heat?  I don't have the answer (other than to "layer" and shed if need be - my mom's famous words) but I did find a few of my favorite "fummer" neutrals.  I made that word up.  It's not yet fall + still kind of summer = "fummer".  I'm tired and rambling, but I found these shoes, scarf and belt at Old Navy & I'm excited to wear during fummer.  And winter. And Sprinter (spring & winter).  Promise I'm done!

What are your signature items for those weird in-between seasons?

{ the OR coast }

Life's been crazy busy lately!  Which is why I'm just now blogging about our trip to the coast last weekend !  here's our trip in pics...

this picture has no significance other than the fact that we finally got a new (to us) car that is an automatic.  After both driving a manual 5 speed for years, this means that we can now hold hands and drive.  it's the little things in life, right?

my darling nephew jack and adorable niece tatum

tatum with her new hoop earrings ! she's growing up so fast! her and grandma had matching earrings.  this is my favorite pic from the whole weekend !

we relaxed a LOT and actually had fun cooking a few meals :)

My darling mom

my handsome, sweet, {huge} nephew Luke!

the summer has been crazy and life is hectic, but this was a nice relaxing weekend away.
we thrift shopped, walked on the beach and just hung out.

Have a great weekend everyone!  Oh, and head on over to Blonde at Heart {one of my favorite blogs!} to check out my very first guest post!  I was so excited when she asked me to do it!
There are some more ideas on there about re-nesting shutters, so check it out!
